Lisa Becharas
The Barracuda Foundation is proud to partner with Lisa Becharas, a professional triathlete focusing on the IRONMAN 70.3 distance as well as dabbling in the off-road triathlon and cross country mountain bike scene. She has accumulated many top 10 finishes as well as qualifying for the 70.3 World Championships two times.
Lisa first fell in love with endurance sports when she ran Cross Country and Track and Field at DePauw University. However, it was after college when she was serving as an assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach at Illinois Wesleyan University where she discovered triathlon. Lisa lives and trains in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Her performance goals for 2024 include finishing top 10 at the 70.3 Ironman World Championships in New Zealand, achieving a top 40 end of the year world ranking, and finishing top 15 at the Leadville 100 mountain bike race. Lisa's main goal for the season is to stay healthy, grow the triathlon community, and have fun at every event!
Lisa describes in her own words how she’s used athletics to overcome personal barriers, “Through sport I have developed a set of skills and a mindset that have better prepared me to handle obstacles and everyday challenges. Through failure I have become more resilient. Through injury I have become more patient. Through success I have learned the value of hard work and the importance of staying humble. Through the process I have learned that staying positive doesn’t always mean being happy every day, but it means knowing that there are better days beyond the hard days. I will forever be indebted to sport for the opportunities to learn, grow, and laugh!””
