Andrew Kurka
The Barracuda Foundation is proud to partner with US Paralympic Downhill Skier Andrew Kurka. Andrew is a 2014 and 2018 Paralympian, 2017 Downhill World Champion and 2017 Downhill Globe Champion and 2017 Super G overall World Champion.
Growing up Kurka was an avid athlete with a dream to make the US Olympic Wrestling Team but when he was 13 he broke his back and lost the use of his legs from the knees down.
In his own words Andrew describes the accident "as more of a blessing than a curse, giving him the chance to change lives, inspire and motivate others. Pursuing my dream of being a champion hasn't changed."
Andrew lives and trains in Palmer, Alaska as he prepares for the 2018 Paralympic games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
